Russia's president's been explaining why he's not seeking a second term. Dmitry Medvedev stressed that he and Vladimir Putin have common goals, and that Putin's huge popularity among Russians will help achieve them, should he return to the presidency next year. Medvedev outlined his reasons in an extensive interview with Russian media. Natalia Novikova has the details from Moscow.

It is all perfectly clear and there is no excuse for drawn out explanations of the obvious, when the obvious is not quite so obvious as actually represented by the elusive facts that complicate the uncomplicated conclusions that were prematurely arrived at before it was all perfectly clear and there is no excuse to go further in this irretrievable loop.
