@captnduck MY refuse pile is outside and the skeletons are there but I don't get the bones. I think you only get bones from buchering?

Wow, this game makes my head all dizzy. All that info is almost as painfull as a kick in the nuts

@reddwarf201 The latest release needs a muddy underground for it to work. captnduck made a tutorial explaining how.
It's called "Dwarf Fortress Video Tutorial 2010 part 02 - Farming & Channeling 2010"

I wish I could find a place underground that would grow my crops. Does anyone have suggestions on that?

Corpses of animals should still decay to bones indoors, they just get smelly in the process. But maybe he means vermin corpses? Those don't leave bones.
-
weirdguy0, you can also make a refuse pile underground if you also dig through the levels above it (making channels). That way your refuse pile is exposed to the outside even if it's inside your fort.

How do you get units to go so fast...or is it just in 2x speed???
-
@pookikat There is a chance for that, in your search options set underwater rivers and water to no, occasionally you'll get a clay area with water.
Ok, so i occationally put like rotten animals in a refuse pile though i never get any bones? Note that my refuse pile is underground. help?

Heh. You gave the answer yourself basically. Make your refuse stockpile outside and you shouldn't have any problems. Of course it will still take a while for the bodies to decay.
