I have a dog which is 9 months old, I have had him for 1 month. When I leave the room even for a few seconds he whines and whimpers and is even worse when he is in his crate, he tries to get out. He is very noisy and upsetting neighbours.
I have tried covering his crate so he cannot see but he still knows when i leave the room, no matter how quiet I am. I have left clothes with my scent on them near crate but he still knows. How does he know if he cannot see me leave and can smell my scent.

Separation Anxiety is caused by the dog taking on the role of pack leader. This responsibility includes the idea of protecting its charges from danger - something it cannot do when we leave. The key to success is to change the dog's mind about who it can trust with these decisions. To find out how to do this effectively and without needing to use unnecessary gadgets and/or force, visit janfennellthedoglistenerdotcom. Cheers, Tony
