Mother and three babies found living in filth in woods

Three young children covered in bug bites and wearing soiled diapers were found in the woods after a neighbor heard them crying, Hillsborough sheriff's deputies said.

This was a clear case of a family in desperate need, and the only thing the state can do is charge the mother with abuse, throw her in jail, and seize the children? The United States is one of the wealthiest countries in the world in both absolute and per capita terms, but cannot afford a welfare system which would cost less than the current methods of responding to desperate need? What is wrong with your nation?

Taking your kids there is a crime because it's neglect - if you're poor and homeless then the right thing to do is to put your kids in foster care or sign custody over to a relative until you have the money to support them.

No because she was negligent, spending her taxpayer funded welfare money on drugs and ignoring the many shelters and charities that exist to help women like her free of charge. And refusing to give kids up which she wasn't willing to provide for and forcing them to suffer. She was a criminal, and at least she'll have free room and food in jail - can't be much worse.

No it affords way more in welfare than it should - it's not the broken US welfare system's fault that mom's like this sell their food stamps to buy crack, and crank out kids they can't support just to get child welfare for them to spend on more crack - while ignoring the many churches and charities that exist. The chances of starving to death in a country with a McDonald's on every corner is less than winning the lottery 10 times. Liberals are so deluded.

Again thousand if not millions of youths in America with no job and yet rich corporations don't want them generally because of expensive labour or that they're to incompetent and don't even bother to invest in the time to train them. Their own people and their own future as Americans. But hey, she's an adult, but in terms of this crisis, it can last for decades and they won't be kids no more....
