A solo jazz arrangement of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. This is using standard chord voicings. I'm playing this on a 2000 Gibson ES-175 Steve Howe Signature Edition through a Polytone Mini Brute amplifier.

  • Love it. Constructive critique: it could flow a bit better in the beginning and at the very end. loved how you picked it up in the middle though nice interpretation.

  • @kjkfender1996 - thanks for the post and the constructive criticism. I listened to this tune again a few months ago and thought just what you thought. it's a bit halting in the beginning. I've since cleaned it up when I play it anymore. Thanks for your interest and your comments!

  • Hi. This is a Gibson ES-175 Steve Howe Signature Edition. It's basically an ES-175 but slightly higher end than the stock unit.

    Thanks for your interest :)

  • Thanks for the compliments, srsteve12. That's very kind of you! I guess the way I learned was to use the chord changes and find the melody in the chords.

Would do this for a living in a heartbeat...but need to pay the bills :( No CD yet, but maybe some day!

    Mark.

  • Wow! I just listened to some of your playing. That you even considered listening to me...I'm honored!

  • @markmalin I have the same problem making the melody line flow just right with the chord changes. It seems sometimes no matter how good you get it it still has a bit of chop. I have found that using alt inversions with the melody line can help too. Nice job though I hope to see some more eventually .

  • Hi, what guitar are you using. Thanks

  • Of all the jazz arrangements this one is not missing the chord changes, I like someone who knows the song. You should be doing this for a living if your not

all ready. I'll buy your CD where is it.

  • don't be silly, you sound great!
