  • Schopenhauer does rather labour an obvious point. He probably wrote this shortly after, as a young man, throwing an irritating woman down a flight of stairs, which permanetly harmed her and for which a court ordered he pay her a sum of money for the rest of her life. Schopenhauer was a chronic loner and misygonist as much as he had uncanny insight into human nature.
