Planet 2 has insane gravity compared to the first. This normally isn't a problem because of the boosters near the mothership, but there is a secret warp zone to the center of the map that only lasts for a few seconds in the beginning; meaning that the treasures in the middle need to be collected without the boosters.

Getting the treasures is the only way to have enough credits for the Italian Racing Jetpod the first time it is available (planet 4). If it is not purchased at that time it isn't available until much later in the game so that's why I get them.

  • Isnt that funny the background music changes when you use the spacepod`s booster or using tractor beam on an object you just grabbed?

  • @torerik1234

Always thought that was a cool feature.

  • As for the description, it's also possible to buy the Italian Racing Jetpod without getting the treasures of the secret warp. By the way, apart from the boosters, there is another item you didn't get at the bottom of planet 2. Do you know what is it used for? I'm still asking myself!

  • I only know of one other way, and it's something that I sort of consider cheating. That is, using the orange crystal trick to get as many credits as possible on planet three. Otherwise, I don't know what you mean.

The item I skipped on planet two was the Navigators. I didn't need the in-game map for these runs (I wasn't going for all items) so I didn't bother to pick it up.

  • Can you explain the orange crystal trick?

  • It's in the planet 6 video. You could potentially get maximum credits by dropping the crystal and picking it up again after spinning it a few times, but it's extremely hard to do it on planet 3.

  • Mexomorph - planet of the Mexican shapeshifters. O_o

  • Holy... Okay okay okay, you've obviously played this game a LOT...

Regardless, you show how it's done, I'm impressed

  • I love that there is NO commentary. It's just you being awesome at Solar Jetman, one of the most underrated games in NES history! Excellent!!

  • oh when i was a kid, this game used to be scary, basically due to the music :S

  • Dunno, the only thing I hated was the laser cannon. It took quite a while to kill and I always did that I think, plus it's scary.

  • Too bad you didnt get the navigators, i used to play Solar Jetman as a kid and i never did figure out what they do.

I liked how you turned in the crate before you got the boosters. That is a trick i have never seen. I usually go from below and shut off the shields when i have gone past it, dragging it with me.

And by the way, did you know that when you are in the secret area, it is possible to shoot that fuel canister below you if you hug the ground at the lowest spot? ;]
