This is a video showing how to fix the macBook power supplies. These power supplies have a tendency to get very worn at the point where the low voltage wire leaves the casing leading to sparks. Since the replacement cost is fairly high, this is a fairly worthwhile project for someone who is handy with a soldering iron and whose computer is out of warrantee. This is an intermediate soldering project - you need to be able to navigate very tight spaces without burning the other components. You also have to be fairly handy with a rotary tool. The plastic for the case is VERY thick. This video is for INFORMATION only! If you do not do this correctly, you could wind up with shock, fire, death, or even a fried computer! • how about if it burns out close to the end that goes into the computer?

  • @uzernam302 That is a tough one. It may be possible to repair at that end but there is a small circuit board in there that has the light on it. I tried to fix mine and wrecked it. I got a new one on eBay for $40 bucks.

  • i certainly don't hope that roughly 20000 people did it this way. you should definitely not use a dremel to hacksaw it up!!!!

there is a proper way to open the magsafe adapter without voiding warranties and ruining it.

    MORONS!!

  • Aww, don't be a hater! Yes it is better to force it apart with pliers where the clips spread out. Besides, it's not ruined, it was out of warranty and broken and now it is fixed for free!
