there is a software patch that fixes the problem. it worked for me!!

The software patch in 10.6.2 had been installed on this machine.
There are reports on Apple's forums from 1000's of people who have had to have their new Mac's replaced. It was a faulty batch.
A software patch will not fix the problem shown in this video. Check the forum out. Do a search for 'screen flickering/tearing'

My PowerBook G4 does this only not as bad and it only does it while it is booting. The logo is ripped apart in lines. I'll post it as a video response for you to see.
It's only the boot LOGO so it's not a big deal at all.

The problem on mine was hardware and happened all of the time, not just at boot.
It has been widely reported on Apple's website.
