america is the only nation were companies make massive profits off of healthcare. Our society needs to revolt and say this shit is unacceptable and quit beleving the lies or smoke screens created by insurance companies. Why no other first world power have any issue with this? Because they take care of their people. america @ one time had this value, not until early 80's did u see this epidemic of health care scare.

The pharmaceutical companies take risk, yes. They have to invest a lot of money into developing drugs, especially with clinical trials/research. But they also spent over $6 billion in fiscal 2009 alone on TV advertising. They spend billions advertising directly to doctors. That is a major reason why they charge extremely high prices for prescriptions. If people here knew how cheaply Europeans and Canadians get their medicine, every major health insurance headquarters would be burned down.

Why wouldn't the health insurance companies not want cost containment? If they pay out less to the doctors and hospitals, they would make more money. Eventually the savings will get passed back to the consumers.
