Video compression is notorious for darkening the videos. Not reaslly any answer. Search video compression and you will see. My guess is the DVD light balance is fairly okay.
Plumbago, this was the Hamburg and not the Stuttgart? I need to do my own search! Hamburg Ballet have an excellent selection of videos online.

It's not the problem in darkens everything., I love it very much!

i think they and Sylvie Guillem performed this piece best. IN this performance Marcia Haydue and Ivan LIska had the beauty of love.

It may just be that way on video. A lot of times on stage it can be seen very clearly. I do agree though I wish we watching on video could see his dancing.

Admittedly, I haven't yet seen Nos. 2,3 and 4, but what a shame that the background was so dark that it was impossible to see Liska dancing the majority of the time.
That seems to be a fault with many choreographers today.

The problem is that the gathering process darkens everything. I've tried to put it through various applications to lighten it, but the megabites are way over the limit.
