Question Time in a parliament occurs when members of the parliament ask questions of Government Ministers (including the Prime Minister) which they are obliged to answer. It usually occurs daily while parliament is sitting, though it can be cancelled in exceptional circumstances. Question Time originated in the Westminster system of the United Kingdom, but occurs in several other countries as well.

In practice, the questions asked in Question Time are usually pre-arranged by the organisers of each party; although the questions are usually without notice. Questions from government backbenchers are either intended to allow the Minister to discuss the virtues of government policy, or to attack the opposition. A typical format of such a government backbencher's question might be "Could the Minister discuss the benefits of the government's initiative on 'issue', and is the Minister aware of any alternative policies in this area?" Ministers may attempt to avoid opposition questions, but lying or intentionally providing misleading answers to Parliament is not permitted by the standing orders. The resulting political outcry could, and often does, result in that Minister being relieved of their position, and possibly suspended from the House. Skilled Ministers will often attempt to turn around the opposition's questions, rather than answering the question asked using them to further attack the opposition.

The Suez Crisis, also referred to as the Tripartite Aggression, was a war fought by Britain, France, and Israel against Egypt beginning on 29 October 1956.

The attack followed Egypt's decision of 26 July 1956 to nationalise the Suez Canal, after the withdrawal of an offer by Britain and the United States to fund the building of the Aswan Dam, which was in response to Egypt recognizing the People's Republic of China during the height of tensions between China and Taiwan.

The three allies, especially Israel, were mainly successful in attaining their immediate military objectives, but pressure from the United States and the USSR at the United Nations and elsewhere forced them to withdraw. Britain and France completely failed in their political and strategic aim of controlling the canal. Israel fulfilled some of its objectives, attaining the freedom of navigation through the Straits of Tiran and the pacification of the Egyptian-Israeli border through UNEF.

Anti-peopleism, otherwise known as socialism / statism / collectivism. A mental illness destroying the fabric of uk society.

  • wow both of these guests are great and i could listen to them for hours!

  • @qtutoringhelps It's not much fun being British when visiting Wales, I often feel very intimidated especially when visiting places like Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil and Newport.

I was surprised about the woman caller who mentioned the city of Bath, I live in Bath myself and many Americans like to come here. I would of thought Bath is the least anti-American of all.

  • The British are anti-American; when I was in Wales, the question we encountered most often with a suspicious gaze, almost a frown: "Are you Americans?"

    "No, we're Canadians."

"Oh, how lovely, how polite you Canadians are!"

  • The unintended benefits of British colonialism described at 7:32

  • The caller probably walked into a self service restaurant.

  • @Mrparrot73 you'd love to think that wouldn't you, imperialist?
