I just thought it was funny this morning as I fixed breakfast all the birds were squawking and happy to see the new day. well....as soon as I gave them all their breakfast there was complete silence as Dixie, Sugar, and Jenny ate their breakfast!!

I often get emails from people who write to me asking for help in quieting a screaming bird during dinner or a phone call. Well.....here you go...... give them a nice plate of good food!!

  • It works in keeping my birds quiet, too, except my grey takes about two seconds to wolf his down, and then climbs down off his cage, goes to my quaker's cage, and eats the rest of what my quaker didn't want! My Amazon, on the other hand, can linger over a meal for over an hour.

  • They are all so different aren't they? They each have their own personality.....it is so funny to watch each bird develop theirs!! Your birds sound wonderful!!

  • That's hilarious - I usually give my birds their fresh food when I eat my meal because I want to eat in slience & not worry about them begging from me! it's very nice to your birds eating so healthy.

  • Distraction is the best way to silence....in my opinion anyway. I think food makes a great distraction!!

  • Thanks for the feeding tips, Rita.

I don't know why but every single one of our birds hate sprouts. i don't know why, they just do. I've even tried various different types. They just look at me in horror when they see it in their bowls, then it all ends up in the middle of the living room floor or all over the walls.

    Great vid ;-)

  • Really? That is weird, I have never seen a bird here who did not love sprouts. You should try sprouting seeds, such as sunflower and millet. If they eat that, then you could add some mung and adzuki bean sprouts to the mix.

  • Yup, you're right! They're great! Since I usually get stuck eating the sprouts I sprout for the birds, I mostly just eat them straight up by the handfuls ;-)

  • our cockatiels especially love corn cobs, they like the little white inner seed parts stuck to it.

  • @1boidae maybe you might want to eat the sprouts yourself, great on a salad!

  • That is great!! Keep offering him healthy veggies and I am sure he will start eating them. I think your spelling is perfect!!

  • hey, Rita
