Chris Schaeffer - Professional Blogger & Social Media Marketing

Hi. My name is Chris Schaeffer and I am a professional blogger first and a social media marketer second. The order is important, but more on that later.

I'm sitting here at my blogging headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas recording this video because I want to explain who I am and what I do.

You may not know what "social media marketer" means, but I'm sure you've heard of the tools of the trade like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube...

So basically, businesses hire me to manage their social accounts on these popular websites so that they can attract and interact with their customers. That's basically what I do.

Now back to the reason I say I am a professional blogger first and a social media marketer second. The most important part of my job is writing interesting blog posts about your product and industry.

You must have something interesting to say on your blog and social accounts. People don't want to read a sales pitch, they want something of value. The most important aspect to being successful on social sites like Twitter and Facebook is in the content you provide your readers and visitors.

So as a Social Media Marketer I distribute that content using those social platforms. I then constantly monitor and respond to people discussing your product or service online. This is called Online Reputation Management.

Online Reputation Management is the consistent monitoring of a business's reputation made up by what people are posting. In short, when someone posts a video or blogs about your business I comment and follow up on those posts daily. And of course Twitter! Anybody that mentions (or tweets about) your company or even your competitors, I monitor all of that as well.
