  • Thanks again for the kind words Jay. I also scooped the first 2 conversion banjos I had, and initially, it made lots easier for me to play in the buttery zone...this one is just a little too pretty for me to put her under the knife.

  • sick job man! out of curiosity i was wondering if you found a certain benefit to playing with your right thumb over the neck (as opposed to over the head)? I've noticed that people do it both ways but i can't seem to play on the neck cause it (the neck) get's in the way of my bumditty thumb

    .

either way it sounded awesome as usual!

  • @jevocke It's all about the tone. It's bright and crisp the closer to the bridge you play and warmer and plunkier as you move away from the bridge. It just takes a little getting used to. Some banjos are scooped to give a little extra space up on the neck. I just use a taller bridge for some added clearance over the frets. Thanks.

  • Way to go man! Very well played.

  • Top notch playing there~ Nice tone on that Reiter as well..going to have to learn this one now

  • Can just see a stand of evergreens filling up with snow as you play this. Terrific performance. All the best. ~ Mark

  • Man I like that! I also love that banjo. I think they're discontinued now. Too bad. ' Nicest sounding banjo I've heard on hundreds of sites. I've got the same problem as Jevocke. I'm about to do a mini scoop under the drone string so I can get my thumb on the string up where the nice harmonic sounds are. It's a conversion banjo anyway so I'm not wrecking a classic or anything. I hope you're going to post some more banjo tunes. I comb your website on a daily basis. Best regards, Jay
