this is my favorite version too. even with the distraction of Mr. Townsend, the band sounds especially tight. and the late Mr. Garcia, may he rest in eternal peace, puts total heart and soul, of which he had superhuman amounts, into his singing and playing. it's like he's channelling all of the pure feeling expressed through the years by bluesmen from long ago. Blind Lemon Jefferson, Charley Patton, and Son House a.m.o. come through loud and true over the celestial airwaves by way of Mr. Garcia.

Funny thing about that, I never noticed the resemblance before but at first I thought, what's Barry Manilow doing up there? Then, when he started moving around I realized it was Pete. I didn't think he was in the way though. I could barely hear him he was keeping so far in the background. Jerry was on fire!

Nobody in rock ever played with a tenth of Jerry's heart. He was the best.

I won't participate in a cult of personality. If you want to, that's fine. But the scene is made mostly by the fans, and the band is more the glue that holds the scene together. The band is NOT the main event. I think the Boys would agree.
