  • On the contrary, Amtrak's proposal will prevent development of the Altanta Beltline project which is set to use these tracks for precisely that type of light rail and city transit. Instead, it would use the line for high speed regional rail which would pass through but not stop here. This neighborhood also lies between two MARTA train stations and lies along its commuter rail line.

  • Your ignorance should be corrected.

We're trying to prevent Amtrak from derailing the BeltLine plans to bring in light rail. I support commuter rail, but there are alternative routes for Amtrak. The train Amtrak wants separates the neighborhoods. The BeltLine proposal ties them together.

  • This GDOT/Amtrack proposal is one in a never-ending series of attempts by the anti-Atlanta forces in the Georgia state government to derail the beltline. They could give a rat's ass about ours of their transportation needs, are only interested in thwarting whatever it is that the people who live in town are asking for, because they despise our very existence. Atlanta deserves better that this lousy State.

  • I think the quality of life, transportation within Atlanta, Georgia, and the rest of that region, and the opportunities for business (both wholesale and retail) would be greatly enhanced by the Amtrak proposal. It would be a different story if the proposal were to bring high speed trains down the middle of historical neighborhoods; but that is not the proposal, despite what the announcers intimates.

  • Man ur an idiot that would help ur town

  • So what your saying is that instead of fast trains zooming right by this neighborhood, you are recommending that GDOT should use quieter trains on the BeltLine, so that the residence property taxes will not increase that much? And there are more than 1 tracks Amtrak should use, other than this route?

  • Atlanta needs highspeed rail service to other areas.

  • Can you please explain to me the actual negative effects? You said it would have a negative impact but I didnt hear any reasons or details of how it would be negative. It wont be destroying anything and most people would love to have high speed rail.

  • Ok, this is about the negative impact, what about the positive impact?

  • TRAINS RULE BRING IT ON

  • Added petition link to text (and iPetitions page includes website info) -- Thx!
