this is called lift off oversteer. When your car's weight balance is at the rear and you have rear wheel drive, lifting off the throttle may have the same effect as stepping on it too much. The rear loses grip suddenly and the heavy engine pulls it out of the road. There is not much he could do. He should have used less countersteer and stay on the throttle. Once you get the tail wagging from side to side, your countersteer will never be fast enough.

@lochlandb I hate to admit, but on the nurburgring your car is not insured, so whatever damage you make on your vehicle, you;ll have to pay from your own pocket.
