I recall the fellow with whom I varied for many years
And myself as well as the presumptions and disputes over his well being
The shaky nights spent in bed and the endless worries
He must have wept himself unconscious every night over some unsettled affair
Still, even now he seldom rests his temple, weary, un-assured
As if the coming years might be no more than the ones long past
But on this day
The glimmers of hope descend in rain drops from what seemed to be a murky cloud
And the arid soil thirsts for trail
On this day I bewildered his eyes
As his soul hearkened and I learned how to smile
