  • I'm talking about passive diving - think of gravity pulling everything straight down; when your spine is fully extended away from the earth, your vertebrae are in the 'gravitational shadow' of your skull and no muscular effort is needed to keep the stack unified. This only works when the crown of the head is the highest spot; tip the head back and the spinal structure will collapse. Dive or duck.
