Endangered Guitar: Call PETA, This Guy's Abusing A Protected Species!

We took a little break from AES to check out the studio of one Hans Tammen, guitarist, experimental musician, and connoisseur of noise. Hans uses his guitar with Max/MSP and a host of household electronics and other implements to generate some pretty amazing sounds, which we captured at his NYC studio space.

you need to chill out man. It's called noise music. Maybe he's just interested in this. I find it a very interesting type of "playing" although I prefer noise with feedback such as Sonic Youth, Earth, Boris, etc. Still, experimental guitar is awesome and I'd like to see you come up with something as unique as this. He's not even being egotistical, he's explaining what he does to the fullest extent. Maybe you just don't like experimental music? Don't bash on him over this.

I'm not really looking to argue with anyone but why all the bashing on this guy? I can very easily say that he is Keith Rowe with a computer or something similar but what purpose will that serve?. While every single one of you have the right to critique this man and you are all entitled to your varied opinions, I just can't understand the vehement hatred generated by this video and this artist.

This is nothing new - Lou Reed - Metal Machine Music. He was the originator of this back in 1975! He released a double album on RCA Records that was just this. Although Lou did it to complete an obligation with RCA Records!

I'm getting sick of people bashing this guy. As he said: it is experimental music. It may not appeal to anyone, but his mix of noise and electronic is unique. I'd watch this guy live if I could, the music isn't the greatest(i've heard better experimental and noise musicians) but it's cool and unique. A lot of the people watching this are too used to mainstream music and probably haven't heard things like Noise, Experimental, dark ambient, etc. As I said: unique
