I imagine an epic scene taking place before the final boss of Sonic 1...
Sonic approaches, and hears Eggman's voice over the loudspeaker. Eggman is calmly, yet angrily counting off all of his defeats at Sonic's hands, talking about how he's the greatest genius to ever live, and a lowly little Hedgehog was able to beat him. He speaks of redeeming himself, and reveals himself in his ultimate machine, daring Sonic to defeat him this time~

His real name is Eggman. That's his name in the classic Japan games aswell. Also you Eggman name haters clearly suck at Sonic 2 or you would know this.

If im not mistaken, in the older sonic comics sonic called robotnic eggman for his egg size body... But when eggman turned himself into a robot he called himself eggman for some odd reason....
