@wensdai ... Thanks Wensdai. I actually got duped into getting this phone (from a Verizon Sales Person). He sold it to me over the phone and assured me that the new Storm had tap touch technology...UGGGGHHH!!!!

@slighten1 He talks about the "sure touch" , which is where you have to press the screen down like the original storm, so I'd assume that no, you can't tap to type (like the iphone). It's not so bad once you get used to it. I went from a storm, to an iphone, to a storm 2 pretty easily.
