Comedian Marcus Brigstocke explains anti-American sentiment in the UK - if you're American and don't understand the British attitude to the USA, listen to this.
I think, like Marcus, that there are some great things about America or USA if you're pedantic however there are some down right awful things that go on there too. Also while appreciate the need for there to be additions to our culture and traditions I do feel that we have lost some of ours due to America's influence.
A lot of our school teachers & heads of year at junior & high school gave our schools speeches praising American culture too, and kids in our class who were from America along with UK kids who'd visited the states were placed at the front of school classes to teach us things done in the USA, such as the food they enjoy, and American school kids telling the class about Trick or Treat & a lot of our English teachers praised a lot about US culture to us in school.
A lot of kids at school loved tryin to speak in American slang & love US rock bands as well as hip-hop & rap bands. At school we all spoke about the latest american flick, you're not cool if you've not seen the latest US movie in our schools, so sometimes if I'd not seen it & all my friends at school had seen it, I pretended I'd seen it too & said it was a cool film, just to fit in, xD
In our schools we learn a lot about American history & as kids we like to impersonate cowboys & cowgirls & indians, the cowboys & girls always being the hero "goodies" & the indians always being the "baddies".
this is hilarious, but quite a true reflection of things, esp. kids in our culture tryin to act & talk like US gangsta's & it's funny when they like to think they're actin like some big tough American in a big city by wearing baseball caps & copying American slang & they live in a small uk place. It does look funny in parts of our nation.
