A tribute to the might and the honour of the Imperial Navy.

The Imperial Navy is one of the armed forces of the Imperium of Man. While the Imperial Guard represents the Imperium's ground forces, the Imperial Navy is responsible for the fleets of starships that maintain order between the stars and planets in the Imperium, as well as engaging threats both inside and outside the Imperium's borders.

During the Great Crusade, both the Imperial Guard and Imperial Navy were originally a single organisation: the Imperial Army. Normally each Imperial Cruiser would have a single Imperial Army Regiment assigned to it. Commanding Officers held command over both their regiment and the warship assigned to them, making a single warship tactically flexible and minimizing the losses in the event of the loss of a starship in the Warp. During the Horus Heresy, however, it appeared that some Traitor regiments used the power of the starships at their disposal in order to forge interstellar empires for themselves in the fire of anarchy. This led to the eventual split between the Imperial Guard and the Imperial Navy, as the Emperor of Mankind himself issued a decree ordering that starships could no longer be commanded by the officers of the Imperial Guard but only by the members of their own service.

On the Imperium's worlds, the Imperial Navy is often referred to as the Holy Fleet. The Ecclesiarchy preaches that the Fleet is an extension of the Emperor and is therefore holy. This is due to the intimate relationship between the Navigators who are able to guide the fleet though the Warp using the psychic beacon emanating from the Golden Throne and the Astronomican. Whether or not the title applies to all vessels in the Imperium is unclear. The Adeptus Mechanicus would also no doubt consider the vessels themselves holy. However, this is due to their own techno-theological beliefs.

Music from the videogame Battlestations Midway, composed by richard Jacques.

  • A letter to all dissidents:

A Cobra Destroyer is 1.6km long. It's primary armament consists of anti-starship torpedoes, each of which is over 200ft in length. Its auxiliary payload is a series of macro-cannons with an operational range measured in millions of kilometres. Its top speed is measured in percentages of the speed of light, and it is crewed by 25,000 Navy personnel.

This is the SMALLEST ship in the Imperial Navy arsenal. Need I say more?

  • @JasanQuinn Actually, you do need to say more : where did you get so precise pieces of information ? You piqued my interest.

  • Battlestation gothic

  • @warhead2121 That would be the hell of a game !

  • 0:55 Where did you get that pic from? WHERE!

  • @SPARTAIN088 I don't really remember. Probably from Devianart or simply from Google.

    You want it?

  • @AkiraBrahe All over; BFG Magazine, Andy Chambers' (now lost) Website, The Rogue Trader RPG, etc.

Alas, many Gothic sources are all but lost these days...

  • @JasanQuinn Wait a second before bring the Inquisition over my ass pal !!!, my sources were Battlefleet Gothic PDFs and the Lexicanum site, if you can point me the "modern sources" I should consult I will gladly do, in fact I am eager to read it, so, again, can you please give me your sources? Throne, how sensitive is some people....fortunately I wont even mentioned the stats of Abbaddon´s Planet Killer....

  • @AkiraBrahe These 'facts' you spout are nothing more than lies and misinformation on the part of the Enemies of Man. Consult modern sources for accurate information as to the Necron threat

  • @JasanQuinn According with Battlefleet Gothic material a Necron Light Cruiser can easily destroy the mightiest imperial Battleship, there is also cannon material relating how on one Necron raid on Mars a small group of their ships destroyed or outrun the best of the Mechanicus fleet on the solar system, there is precious few instances of Empire victories over even the smallest groups of Necrons, just saying...and where you got so precise numbers on real physic magnitudes? thank you

  • the emperor rules the stars! the holy fleet of the emperor protects it!

  • @JasanQuinn percent of light speed is intrinsically paradoxical as we know from the theory of relativity.

  • @graydragon117 facepalm

  • @iammjolnir Strictly speaking, a fighter craft would be a boat. The smallest ship is probably some kind of cargo carrier, but then again in older fluff they came under the category 'merchant ships' and were not, strictly speaking, part of the Imperial Navy.

So I am technically right. :P

  • @JasanQuinn It's the smallest NON fighter ship in the Navy. Just for reference.
