NO AUDIO -- I made this piece for my friend Scott. He built a MAME cabinet years ago, making it the centerpiece of his game room. I designed the Surgeville logo for the cabinet's backlit marquee, then adapted that logo for his poker chips and playing cards. I wanted to make an idle animation for when the game machine's not in use. I did all the modeling, animation and rendering in Maya. Far from perfect, I know, but I think I managed to capture the overall look OK. Next I'm going to make a Dragon's Lair piece. That's gonna take a while!

  • Sweet.

  • @dholmlund Thanks!

  • Thank you! Wish I had the time to devote to doing a nice job with the audio. I just don't seem to know the source a lot of people have for the sfx... maybe I should take a day to pull the audio from the DVD now that it's available for sale, and do a nice edit to drop into this...

  • Holy Crap! That look just like the movie! Tutorial Please!

  • @spongedude5467 -- Haha, thanks! I'm no kind of Maya expert, so really this was all just a whole lot of trial and error, and a lot of staring at the original. It took me a while to convince Maya to give me renders that looked similar to early-80's software!

  • i honestley thought I was watching scenes captured from the Blu ray, until I saw the new segments. Excellent work!! End of line

  • Awesome! Very well made! *claps*

  • Ho man , this is so damn good , and the light effect when they blow out gave me chills .

You definitely have to make a tutorial for this or just show us how to configure the rendering .

Anyway , great stuff , and thank to you to restore my faith in 3d , there is still a hope for me to make beautiful , simple and abstract thing in 3D today .

  • If you are not an expert, then I dunno what you are. This kicks ass. If you put audio with it, no one would believe it wasn't some sort of additional scenes from the movie. :)

  • DAYUMMMM!!!!!!! Dude, this looks JUST LIKE THE MOVIE!!!! You gotta add some sound effects! LOVE the Recognizer at the end, Man!!!! Too bad that you couldn't get a gig on TRON LEGACY! Steven Lisberger and Joseph Kosinski should have hired you!!!! 10 STARS!!!!!!!

  • Sick, I love it!
