Recorded on May 25, 1979 for Capitol records, this performance was a part of a promo-series created to promote the company's hottest acts of that year. Titled Capitol Records Revised Soul, the VHS cassette included such acts as Natalie Cole, Taste of Honey, and Tavares. I bought the tape from a former Capitol Records executive's estate sale back in 2002, and I consider it to be one of most treasured Minnie memorabilia pieces. Over the years I have contributed greatly to various channels devoted to Minnie Riperton, but I have decided it is now time to host my own channel. In the near future, I plan to share more unpublished footage from my personal archives of the angel. Stay Tuned!

  • I have been posting rare Minnie Memorabilia from my personal collection on the Perfect Angel blog. . . check it out minnie riperton.wordpress

  • I am waiting for you to post more. I do not believe anyone is such a dedicated fan as I. I know there are others, but I absolutely love all of Minnie's songs, and I have been following her music since '79. Thanks for posting and I will keep checking for more post.

  • @memmory1000 LOL... It's always good to be in the company of true Minnie enthusiasts. Thanks for the comment.

  • Wherever did you find this?!?!?!........I just went back down memory lane....it's amazing that so many decades later a song can evoke so many happy memories and make you feel all good...(I say..as I'm using a hairbrush for a mike in the mirror!). The mold was broken with Minnie.

  • @TheDollDiva Lol. I agree with you wholeheartedly; Minnie voice was a once-in-a-lifetime gift.

  • this is PRICELESS. I am in tears as I write this. I know that she felt every word of this song, it is in her voice in her eyes and her gestures. I always said that she song this one from the utmost part of her heart cause she knew she was dying. thanks for shapring this. She was truly a remamrkable woman and sitting there singing her heart out proves that. If the woman artist of today had an inkling of her style and class, many of our young girls would be better off. I am forever a fan.

  • just days before her death! damn cancer!!

  • This sing is hard to listen to. I think of the day my mom and I sat in the car listening to this and my mother just became so overwhelmed with grief that she cried like a baby. I had never seen her so vulnerable. Beautiful voice, touching song. No one can/could/will ever do what she could do. 32 years later we still miss her.

  • In the R&B Olympics.Representing the U.S in the Female Soloist Competition.This is my starting 5 line up (NIAPO).1.Ms.Minnie Ripperton 2.Ms.Deniece Williams 3.Ms.Patti Labelle 4.Ms.Stephanie Mills 5. Ms.Aretha Franklin.

No country could deal with it!

  • Thanks so very much for posting this. Please let it be sooner than later that you post more unpublished footage of this beautiful songbird. She is why I have so much appreciation for true and raw talent. I will check back often until more is posted on M.R. I can still remember being in Florida the day it was announced that she had just passed. I have always followed her music and looking forward to any new footage that has not been seen.

  • Firstly, I've only just realised that Minnie Ripperton is Maya Rudolph's mother and secondly, that Minnie died of breast cancer just under two months after recording this video, when Maya was 6 years old. Lastly, when Minnie was singing Lovin' You, right at the very end you can hear her singing Maya Maya Maya Maya, since it was a lullably for her daughter.

  • Loved her on first song; so crazy about her I begged a neighbor to give me her album he had in his collection =) Safe to say the first album I ever owned and played it nonstop on this cheap record player, but it was fun and got a lot of enjoyment from her music. Love you, Minnie Riperton truly you are missed...
