THE HAMPTON ROADS CHRONICLES: Archive Episode 3
"Grand Illumination 2009"
Here's our first trip to Colonial Williamsburg's annual "Grand Illumination," a festival of lights to commemorate the Christmas season in 2009.
The Grand Illumination consists of all of the colonial homes and townsfolk (actors) going all out for the holiday season the way it was done hundreds of years ago. Street bonfires, manic street preachers, candlelit windows, and wreaths made of fruit and ivy, caroling, drums and fifes, and traditional holiday garb. The highlight is the 30-minute fireworks display.
