  • RIP Kelly. You'll always be in our hearts<3

    Keep watching over us angel.

  • I've gone to Hell Hole and the Popolopen Waterfalls quite a bit to take pics and do video. Once I went there in Feb with 7 inches of snow on the ground. I realized it was absolutely a bad idea. Most of the place doesn't seem that dangerous but it's deceptive because there are some tricky points where a slip cause a person to keep going down a whole lot further than they realize. Walking through leaves and holding on to branches for balance can be dangerous. I was very sorry about this girl.

  • Rest in Peace, Kelly. Mary (Kelly's mom), may you be comforted.

  • i grew up in the area. use to go down here 2 - 3 times a week in the summer to jump and swim since it was such a cool place to go to. sorry to hear that someone lost their life to experience it.

  • @KellyThundercloud And if you get yer a** knocked out on one of the submerged rocks, you don't swim very well.Once under, no one else can see you beneath the surface of the water. Not easy dragging a KO'd body out of there either. I watched 'em haul a guy outta here after he landed on one of the submerged cables from the old bridge. Slit his leg from ankle to hip. Very lucky he had brave friends who managed to get him out. An iffy proposition at best. Many are unaware of all the hazards here.

  • @CronoLegend If you insist on doing this, make sure you realize you have to clear the rocks below, Wear sneakers and hold your hands straight up when going in. Having said this, you are really risking lie/limb.

Why bother ? It can be VERY slippery there... you slip and thats all she wrote. Those rocks/mine shaft are unforgiving !!There are old cables in there. Listen to the Lt. here. I grew up with him, hes talking the truth. ENJOY your youth, have fun somewhere much safer.Just isn't worth it.

  • @RobIsTheMan My father used to dive off that old bridge back in the day. Not a good idea and he strictly forbid me from swimming there. When I was a kid it seemed every summer someone was getting injured/dying there.

All from out of town, lots of kids from NJ used to go there, get drunk, try to impress their friends by diving off the 'hillslde'/platform. Locals never had a problem. I walked the dam once with friends - DUMB, don't ever try it unless u r looking to loose your life !!

  • That place is mad fun, we used to drive from Yonkers to get there. Where the girl slipped is the path leading to the 45 foot drop. Which indeed is dangerous. I even have a video of me here online jumping it, you gotta aim for the long branch (if it's still there). Believe me I was aware of the danger everytime I went up there. So many places to slip in general, but hey, that's what makes part of the fun. Is it worth going there, yes, just gotta be careful.

  • @RobIsTheMan done this plenty of times got a phatty ticket last year and said fuck it havnt gone back u know any more 25+ foot jumps around?

  • @CronoLegend yea not sure the names of the roads that well but i know when u get off the palisades u come to a circle go around the circle and exit to the left u cross over a bridge NOT THE big bridge in front of u!!!! then its a a quick left right after the bridge i think the name is firemans drive take that for a minute u will see a park park your car there and walk up the road that says u cant park its a like a five minute walk up on the left side of the road a few boulders mark the entrence

  • Oh yeah steep places can fool you! I've chanced some in the past and trust me, it wasn't as easy as it appeared. I really don't recommend it :o

  • People will always do stupid things, no matter what.

Teens do a LOT of stupid things because their brains & nervous systems are still growing...
