im 13 and my parents got told i was allergic to peanuts, almonds and hazelnuts when i one. It sometimes can be really scary when you think about it but you learn to adjust, just make sure you check labels and don't eat any think you are unsure about. also make sure you always have epi-pens with you.
This explains the problems we had at my teenager's softball games with little Eli just over a year old and all the sunflower seed shells and so on lying on the warm summer ground.
But now we are planning on how to prepare for games this season by bringing something else for Eli.
I guess the school in my town doesn't offer pb & jelly sandwiches anymore. Lots of things are tough to come up with food with him-I pray for you and Eli that some things will be outgrown someday.
@kardancer1 If it wasn't for hubby he'd only eat cereal and tuna. Our grocery bill has almost tripled... I can't believe he can't have so many things and then sunflower... One spread we have used is an almond cocoa butter that my mom buys, but I think it's like $5 or more for a small container of it. Not a real good substitute for Pbutter when big brother who's almost 5 requests the chocolate butter on toast all the time - ROFL!
@WatsonVA poor thing what is your poor baby going to eat. Hopefully he/she will grow out of it. What can you use for protein source? I am allergic to Soy, Pecans and Walnuts, but was diagnosed when I was in my late teens. I go into severe asthma, along with swollen tongue, tightness in throat and hives. But you learn to cope and adjust, it's a life style change. I wish the best to your little one.
@EAHRMAN Ugh! Just confirmed less than a week ago my 19 month old is allergic to Peanuts, Beef, Chicken, Turkey, Pork and Eggs.
This is scaring me real good. I'm going to do all I can to get Eli's community around him to be educated and hopefully aware of how serious this really is. Waiting out a reaction that impairs his breathing for an hour or 2 is not really an option anymore now that we know why... kind of anyhow.
