This episode was filmed at the SOCAM radio network headquarters at Wendake and in the Attikamekw community of Obedjiwan, located on the northern shore of the Gouin Reservoir. A young Attikamekw journalist working at SOCAM makes a trip to her home community to tape interviews and legends told by elders in their native tongue, as part of the network's language initiative.
Now that's how to do it! Younger, less fluent speakers who are more familiar with modern concepts going to visit with the native-speaking elders living in more traditional settings to learn from them the old lifeways as well as less common vocabulary, that often only the most fluent speakers know and use. This is very important in modernizing a language and helping it survive the modernization of its speakers.
