The closing lyrics was: " A wild kind of devil, but dead on the level, was my...gal..Sal" I can't take the credit.I found it under dub, dub, dub(dot)poetrycritic(dot)com. He has the full story about the song and the full lyrics.

Ahhh! The memories of the aroma of my mother cooking hamburgers, homemade french fries and serving them to my brother and I during the early 60's while watching The Jackie Gleason Show and this segment of his show. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.

Even though, both Gleason and Fontaine appeared to work great together, they did not get along well at all. Maybe a bit of an ego clash. And Fontaines Crazy Gugenheim character had a different name when he appeared on other variety shows before the Gleason show. Can't remember what it was, though.

Thanks for posting this! I grew up on The Jackie Gleason show way back in he 60's! Living in Bulawayo, Rhodesia! I think the show featured on Friday nights! I used to freak my mother out by doing an emulation of Frank Fontaine! My mother threatened me with a ban on watching TV if I didn't stop! Go figure!

@DrSamba1 It was a sight-gag which also allowed a joke about it. Gleason's line was once to the effect of: "It keeps it from overflowing". It got a laugh, but it's also partly the truth.
thank you for this great memory. Saturday nights with my Mom and Dad. what i wouldnt do to go back to those days.
