  • The closing lyrics was: " A wild kind of devil, but dead on the level, was my...gal..Sal" I can't take the credit.I found it under dub, dub, dub(dot)poetrycritic(dot)com. He has the full story about the song and the full lyrics.

  • Ahhh! The memories of the aroma of my mother cooking hamburgers, homemade french fries and serving them to my brother and I during the early 60's while watching The Jackie Gleason Show and this segment of his show. Thank you for the trip down memory lane.

  • @grandadjim John L.C. Savony

  • Even though, both Gleason and Fontaine appeared to work great together, they did not get along well at all. Maybe a bit of an ego clash. And Fontaines Crazy Gugenheim character had a different name when he appeared on other variety shows before the Gleason show. Can't remember what it was, though.

  • thanks MOM and DAD.

  • Thanks for posting this! I grew up on The Jackie Gleason show way back in he 60's! Living in Bulawayo, Rhodesia! I think the show featured on Friday nights! I used to freak my mother out by doing an emulation of Frank Fontaine! My mother threatened me with a ban on watching TV if I didn't stop! Go figure!

  • Ever think that Crazy Guggenheim was the inspiration for Norm from Cheers? Hee-Hee-Hee.

  • @DrSamba1 It was a sight-gag which also allowed a joke about it. Gleason's line was once to the effect of: "It keeps it from overflowing". It got a laugh, but it's also partly the truth.
