  • Mick's video has now been uploaded onto our page - see Jet boat precision turn (Venture Jet, Ocean Dynamics RIB). Many thanks to him. Beth @ venturejet

  • Thanks to Mick Brown (antartcicmic.co.uk) we now have a video showing more clearly the sort of turn Shearwater does as part of her working life. Is it easy? Tim makes it look that way but oddly enough put someone else on the same boat & she doesn't behave nearly so well... Jet boats can have a wicked sense of humour. It's not the toughest thing that we do but easy? Not quite. Rubber? 9m of solid aluminium! She's a fantastic work boat. Further info & photos on our Facebook page. Beth@venturejet

  • WOW. The debate goes on. I have had jet boats and prop boats. Props are definitely easier to manoeuver. But in all honesty, different jets handle completely different too! Take a big volume/low pressure three stage, and it pumps a huge volume at an idle. You can steer it anywhere. Then try the same thing with a high pressure/low volume "white" pump, and it is harder. Either way, this is a good video. And as far as I am concerned everyones point is valid.

  • Then post a video of it hot shot.

  • @mattmtb4life shut up twat

  • Actually the fact that it's a jet boat makes it easier....I can not say it's hard or not from my point of for I have never done it, but I know that it is considerably easier to maneuver a jet boat like that and a prop boat.

  • thats like so not hard with a rubberboat at that speed....

got 1 myself, and i bet i could do that

  • looks tough considering he does a 180 degree turn

  • With respect, I beg to differ. I own a jet boat and can precisely move it in any direction I want at idle including pivoting on its own length or even going sideways. The low speed control with a jet is outstanding. It is when the engine is stopped that you have no steering - when moving of course) because there is no rudder in the water.

  • Yes, I'm sure you have, but remember, this is a jet boat, it has virtually zero steering capability when idling.
