thanks for posting. do you use heel-up method primarily for faster tempos? also, what about rock playing? I know many players who use heel up and play eight notes in rock - is this something you tend to play, too? (i have always played heel to toe rocking motion, but am trying to learn the heel up method better)
@epuente Thanks. Good questions. I tend to have my heel up for most playing. I have done the "rocking" motion you are talking about, but that was more out of studying the method. I may use it once in a while for very soft jazz gigs, but not normally. As for the heel being up I do keep it up however just not to high. Only as high as I need volume. Maintaing balance with the torso to limbs should always be priority one for control. Hope this helped.
@jasonfurmandrummer - it's funny how old habits can develop into styles, sometimes good sometimes bad. my old habit of heel down over the past 20 years, now limits me in some ways.....but this video and your comments, are very helpful, to develop a different (better, in my opinion) method. so thanks again!
