Reid's gotta go. Looks like that won't be a problem. He needed all the help he could get from progressives so he went and shot them in the back for Lieberman and Obama. That's okay, though. I'm sure he can get a great lobbying job based on what a great job he's already done in that regard.

Are you serious? that is the dumbest question ever....for the exact same reason your police, firefighters, etc are run by the government. Because healthcare should not be driven by profits, it is a life and death business that needs to provide. ie you cant trust big business to choose quality of life for everyone over their profits...further its only a public OPTION so what is your beef with it?

Where does your confidence come from? I would love to be won over, but I dont see it. Our government has failed us on most all social programs - most being just a fraction of the size of this public health care.
Can you make me feel better by pointing out just a few government run programs that are efficiently run today?
Dont get me wrong, Im for reform, but changes in regulation and standards - not another gov social program.

Harry Reid is the MAN! I did not think for a second the public option was going to get in the Senate version but it looks like it will be in. I am very proud of the progressives in Senate for fighting and continuing to fight for the public option. Human life should not be subjected to the profit motive of big business and shame on those politicians who still will not do the right thing and support the public option. I agree with Cenk Obama is the #1 goat on this issue.

This is just my thought and i could be wrong But maybe Obama and his cabinet thought it would be better for the country if the people they elected to represent their opinion in congress were the actual heart of the change he promised. his platform was that of governmental change not just the position and authority of the president. He wanted congress to shake the rust off and actually DO something that benefits the country. He as the president should not have had to But hey you never know.

The first time that I have really disagreed with TYTs. This is not a strong version of the public option. As I understand it, only the uninsured can opt in and that's only if their state will allow it. The public option only works if it allows people into the program. Otherwise why would insurance companies care about the public option if no one could get into it? This is not a change from insurance monopolies. This is a another chance at reform that looks like it will fall WAY SHORT. Again.
