Jameson Raid were a legendary Heavy Rock band from Birmingham, England. Formed in 1975 they predated the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal, already a serious hard hitting live act before the NWOBHM bands came on the scene. They had a fearsome reputation for blowing big name bands off the stage when playing support slots. Everyone, me included, thought they would be huge one day, especially when NWOBHM fever hit in 1980. Maddeningly, bizzarely, myseriosly - they were never signed by a major label. The legacy they left behind, two EPs and a self released cassette tape, are fantastic and they have aquired cult status as one of the very best unsigned bands ever...

...but the story isn't quite finished, yet. They have a new website, www.jamesonraid.net

  • Sony backed down and withdrew their copyright claim as soon as I was able to contact them. The biggest problem was that it was IMPOSSIBLE to contract youtube. When I emailed them my emails were rejected by their spam blocker. They suggested I re-wrote and re-submitted. It always failed the spam checker until I simplified the message so much that it was rejected with 'this message contains no reference to copyright - this email address is for copyright issues only'.

Good way to wind someone up.

  • Jameson Raid are playing the Download Festival, Donnington, 10 - 12 June 2011

  • Sony International have claimed copyright to this song!!!!

I have received a copyright infringement notice from Youtube. Apparently Sony have decided to appropriate this song as their own.

    The bloody cheek!!!

The song was written by Jameson Raid in 1979, it was recorded by the band and released on their own record label. They paid for a few thousand pressing which they sold at their own gigs. It has never been released on any major label AND

IT CERTAINLY DOES NOT BELONG TO SONY!!!!

  • Make sure you see this one, too:

  • Yep, gigs and support line ups are confirmed.

Jameson Raid, Supported by The Handsome Beasts and Agincourt will play The Robin2 on Sunday July 18th 2010.

Friday 23rd July at the Academy Birmingham, supported by Cloven Hoof.

Headbangers open air festival, Hamburg, weekend commencing 29th July 2010

T-Shirts and CDs available at the official website. Google!

  • i heard that the handsome beasts may be supporting?

  • Scarab were supposed to be supporting - but had to pull out to too shortage of bass players.

So... there will now be another support, but it hasn't been decided yet. The Handsome Beasts are one suggestion - the history of The Raid and The Beasts interlocks a little...

The new Jameson Raid album is out end of this month on SKR!

  • Only seen Jameson Raid once. Back in 1977/78, they were supporting John Miles at West Park , Wolverhampton, as i remember it was a good gig, laced with an audience full of Denim and Leather jackets. Felt sorry for John Miles though, i was close to the front and counted every plastic pop bottle that was wield at poor John. lol
