  • science is science. there's no such thing as "alternative science." there is only science (using observations and logic to understand nature) and "not science" (dogma).

now chemical medicine is not the only solution to health problems, but in MANY cases it IS necessary to help the body regulate and maintain itself. but you are completely correct that people are overly- dependant on drugs to maintain their health. excersize, self-relaxation, sleep, and nutrition go a long way.

  • to add to my comment, alternative drugs are the modern day equivalent of snake oil. why take chemicals (natural or not) that lack objective scientific evidence to support their claimed effects? i've known people who'd eat poisonous plants since they were told the plants were "alternative medicine" and that they could cure breast cancer... there's no alternative to good science.

  • Most form of alternative health do not involve medications, in fact only a few actually do.

Chiropractic, physical therapy, message therapy, acupuncture, acupressure, meditation, clinical nutrition, orthomolecular psychiatry, etc. are all alternative health systems.

Orthomolecular psychiatry was invented by a double Nobel prize winner in science by the way.

  • Alternative health does not mean "alternative science".

Does the validity of something depend on A) natural law or B) whether or not it's been tested w/ the scientific method?

If science discovers something to be true, was it true before science discovered it?

Many forms of alternative health have been validated and/or discovered through science as well.

  • the problem i have with the way you presented this video is the "drugs vs. alternative medicine" theme. good doctors don't chose one and run with it, there's a middle ground. i also have a problem with the different definitions of "alternative medicine" used. for many, it IS an "alternative to science." you are absolutely correct that the scientific method has its limits. but when it comes to what people do to their bodies, i'd rather take the scientific method over snake oil.

  • I think you should research the subject more.

See video, "nutrition vs. Conventional Medicine."

  • This is all I know. When I took drugs and went to the doctor for all my health care I was ALWAYS sick. Since I have cleaned up my diet and taken a few choice supplements I am the most well I have ever been. My husband and children are the same. Really nasty bugs hit town and they bounce off us. Scientific proof or not I have fantastic health. Everything else has followed now in our lives.

  • Medicine certainly has its place. Especially in disease conditions. It allows something to change while the underlying cause can be addressed in the meantime.

  • Do you know what they call alternative medicine that's been proven to work? Medicine.

It's an old joke, I know, but its still apropos, and just because some methods don't actually use medication doesn't mean that they're any less woo. Subluxations are just as much snake-oil nonsense as homeopathy

  • Alternative medicine is fake, and all of you alternative medicine practitioners should be fucking ashamed for charging people for false hope. What has it cured, other than mild symptoms like aches, sores, fevers, etc (all which is attributed to your immune system)?

  • nice

  • Alternative medicine should never be called "ALTERNATIVE" ---- IT WORKS.

  • @ssnatcherss Natural Medicine is a science. The fact is that the field is full of a lot of so called "authorities" with little or no widely accepted credentials to back up their positions, so most of the more "educated" doctors in society write them off as Snake-oil salesmen as you say. However just like the guy in this video says, the so-called medicine of today treats symptoms, not causes. In my experience there is no bigger way to let a problem get out of control than to mask its existence.

  • Yeah i really appreciated what you have told natural way is the healthy way.

  • I personally would rather treat an illness with natural herbs and supplements. They have been used for thousands of years to maintain health in all cultures. I think most pharmaceuticals do more harm than good, look at how many are recalled a few years after they are "approved" by the FDA. "Feeding Death to America" if u ask me.

  • anyone know where to sell black cohosh it is a plant that grow in nature what i seen it has some value so if somone knows where to find a buyer let me know ok

  • Hello, I would just like to let anyone who is interested in using electricity to heal I would like to invite you to learn about the Bob Beck Protocol and Blood Electrification Therapy.

  • Trust your doctor, if he says you need to take pills, take them.

If you don't, don't take them.

But ALWAYS have a healthy balanced diet with exercise.
