  • Thanks for the video:

Being self sufficient is becoming more and more important each day.

planting some in wooded areas in case you are forced from your home in an emergency or a disaster is also a good idea.

    I save seeds religiously now.

    peace :)

  • Obama started where Bush left off, more war to make money for the federal reserve bankers, arms companies, pharmaceutical companies. Your currency is a private profit making enterprise by a couple of families, aka eternal debt for USA), and all these industries have bought out all your politicians and major media

In the long run, it is cheaper to grow your own food. By growing your own food, you can pick it as it is needed. $20 a month in water and about $10 worth of seeds will give you a few hundred dollars in vegetables a month.

  • Some basics here: best potato cage is 1/2" wire mesh tube 4' high lined with landscaping weed barrier. Fill that 1/3 way with good mulch when you plant your seed potatoes. When plants are half way to top, add about a foot of soil. When plants are to the top, add more soil. AFTER the plant has flowered and starts to die off, it is time to harvest. Just pull up the wire mesh tube and there are your potatoes! No digging. Dig?

  • Better to use a fork to lift potatoes as you will get most of them out of the ground. Sifting the soil by hand to find potatoes is not the best way to do it

  • @Tiggerpilot Not true. Once you harvest them, store some away. If you dont do that it WILL rot do to oxidation. Get yourself some jars and boil them.... then store. Its all about attitude. Positive thoughts yield positive results.

  • I HAVE NO ARGUMENT AGAINST GROWING YOUR OWN. MY TROUBLE BEGINS WHEN i HAVE TO WORK TO GET CASH TO PAY BILLS. THEN CULTIVATE THIS CROP FOR FOOD I NEED. TIME....TIME IS NEEDED FOR THIS. IF I CAN'T STORE IT WITHOUT ROT....WHERE DOES THE SAVINGS EMERGE? MOST OF IT WILL BE WASTED TOWARDS ROT. TIME & MONEY IS WASTED HERE.

  • @MCSmudgeEIRE I am not sure what that has to do with potato's but I agree with you completely. But give the people a little time and we will fix this problem. Most of us know that this is what is happening but can't quite seem to get together to put a stop to it YET.

    Rowdy

  • @MCSmudgeEIRE we americans are strong we have no fear of our government

  • No easier way to see the glory of God than when you are harvesting from a garden you planted. Life is truly a miracle.

  • @jasonw6510 Do you have a special soil mix you use?
