Love that motor. I used to have one in my 71 Ranger that I had made it street and strip.
It was a CJ motor and had been ported and polished with D shaped exhaust plates in ports.
750 Double pumper. big cam. 488 gears. Run 12.70s in quarter.

@greasy59 yes you are right..even the plugs go in in the same way ..the yblock was the one and only ford v8 to ever be made with the dist in the rear ,..even the oil filter is in a similar place and same side of block as well .,,and you would almost think you could take the valve covers off the sbc and put them on the yblock and vise versa except the hold down bolts are in different locations but they look very similar in size and shape

another engine with these type of numbers without a power adder, multiple cams, multiple carbs, or helluva cubic inches. old or new. simply put i would much rather have a modernized ford pushrod engine over the new stuff. they need to bring a small displacement version of a modernized cleveland back. i guess until then the rectangular port Ls engines will suffice as newschool clevelands or what the new cleveland would be. they even accept sbf front mount distributers. somebody been

excellent execution of old iron! i am really not biased when when it comes to american engines. i love them all and they all have their own natural attributes. the gmLs is the equivalent of what you would get if donald trump and oprah had an offspring when it comes to mixing engine technology. we need more high hp ford 2.3s,gm ecotecs, and 2.0 dodge engines also. but of all the modern and vintage engines i must give ford the glory simply because you would be hard pressed to build ...
