Never to minimize Hope Steffey's illegal experience with officers of the law.....females are being victimized by law enforcement officers every damn day. Unfortunately they are scared, do not have the support, legal representation or advocacy that they so much deserve hence life goes on within departments. Well, Stark County in Ohio has had a major wake-up call and I pray that other police departments and sheriff departments will be called out for illegal actions.

@cyndish1 I made FOIA requests from the sheriff, the FBI & Ohio State. I also have transcripts from her original trial. Plus like I say I have talked to nearly everyone on the phone about this case. I called the Stark County prosecutor to ask for their copy of the state report. They denied having it, said I had to contact the state. REALLY? You ASK for the investigation, but the state didn't send you a report? They said NO. Then I told them I ALREADY had a copy, with them as a CC copy!

@cyndish1 Yeah I got the FBI files through a FOIA request. BUT they blacked out ANYTHING that made the cops look bad, and then tried to BS me that it was personal info. But I ALREADY had all the evidence from the Ohio investigation. So I appealed their decision & sent them PROOF that they were liars. Again I was denied. I had since contacted my Rep, asking how the FBI is getting away with this, but he has since had a heart attack. So I doubt I'll be getting any reply soon.

@cyndish1 No not Swanson, the head jailer Mike McDonald. Hell I couldn't ever get Swanson on the phone, he was 'never there'. Over the 2 years I tried to contact the sheriff, leaving my name & # I had him return 1 call and it was about the three teen girls that were strip searched (not Hope) Even then he knew NOTHING about what was going on. But he had a deputy call back, that ALSO knew nothing of the case, even after he admitted that he had just turned over the evidence to Prosecutor

@Zemo999 Wow--How did you get your hands on FBI files? An FOIA request? When you say the bastard lied on May 5, 2008, do you mean swanson? This whole thing is hopelessly intriguing to me, both because of the astonishing depravity & because of the enabling on every level--the sheriff's approval, the BCI investigator's approval, the grand jury's failure to indict, & the voters' baffling re-election of swanson. I see that you've put much time into this & any replies are appreciated.

After a NATIONAL disgrace?! I have no idea either. Deputy Mike McDonald is running for sheriff. This is the guy that helped cover this up. He also kept people away from the Ohio State BCI.

When I talked to him on the phone May 5th 2008, the bastard lied to me! He denied that he knew ANY investigation or investigators.

When I finally contacted the BCI they said how could he NOT KNOW, THEY are the ones that asked for the investigation!

@cyndish1 I agree with this much of sammerlin's assessment, these people knew they were terrorizing her, that was the whole point, they were pissed because the CRIME VICTIM wasn't cooperating enough with her arrest! (Their report states that she "flipped her hair" in booking) Of course THAT video is also non-existent! They claim there was no camera's in booking. As for the video of them bringing her into the jail, the sheriff never gave the state that video.

This whole case is BS!!

@cyndish1 I have talked to a LOT of these people on the phone. I'm sure they all knew she was never suicidal, and a couple of them as much as admitted it to me on the phone. The rest still try to come up with excuses, but once they see I have read the court transcripts, the Ohio State BCI reports, & the FBI files they find out they can't BS me around and then they get irate!

I even have evidence that Ohio State never received. And more evidence that I have never posted about.

@sammerlin1 I believe that the treatment of prisoners in jails & prisons is a low or non-existent priority for our elected representatives, since it is for the public. Still, I am intrigued to figure something out to address the situation. Maybe I'll call that boob Governor Kasich's office, just to see if they have an opinion.
