  • @TicinoParadise I think you're right about Shackleford being hampered with the extra weight - he fought hard in the stretch and actually got his nose in front when Coil came level with him. Epic last-to-first move by Coil though. Tizway is now being considered as a contender for the Classic after his 2nd G1 in a row at the Whitney, showing a little stamina to go with the speed. I liked your comment about him on the Met Mile vid. Coil is now at 8-1 for the Classic from Wynn Las Vegas.

  • @BigPetrov - Hey, Seems the weights are what IMO cost Shackleford in the Haskell. At even weights he probably leaves coil at the 1/8th pole. To bad about First Dude. He was just finding his winning stride. As for Twirling Candy.....doubt it. I know he spots weight, but he is not firing @ 10 furlongs, and Americans need to hopefully find another solid 4 yr old to be your BCC hope. My money is on the Filly from California. SYT BCC agreed won't happen...but maybe the BC TURF?. or Cox plate

  • @TicinoParadise and the two horses look and run so much alike. SYT could be a threat at the Classic, but on the dirt at CD, I'm not so sure (immense talent though). First Dude is improving under Baffert, winning the G1 Hollywood Cup recently, and might be a threat at BCC. Game on Dude and Twirling Candy (awesome at G1 Malibu last year) are the other 4 yr olds who will hopefully make an impact. The Haskell at the end of the month will show if Shackleford is on the up or not.

  • @TicinoParadise Secretariat and Sea The Stars both had Irish and American blood in them, and both dominated their eras. Great thoroughbreds transcend borders. For instance, Cape Blanco's (MOW winner) impeccable pedigree includes Secretariat and the latter's son, General Assembly, current record holder of the G1 Travers Stakes - 2:00 flat on the slop! GA is CB's maternal great grandsire. If you check out GA's Travers, it's almost a carbon copy of Blanco's Irish Champion Stakes,...

  • @TicinoParadise I apologize for my previous comments which I just deleted. I got a little upset about your put down of American racing and lashed away without thinking. The bottom line is, all these great thoroughbreds (Secretariat, Sea the Stars, Sea Bird - all start with "S"!) were amazing and each did unique things on the track. Sea Bird sired Little Currant who won the last two TC races in amazing fashion in 1974. Native Dancer (one of the best) is the grandsire of Sea Bird...

  • I mean Goldikova already beats the crap out of your best Turf Milers every year, and now you will have Canford Cliffs to deal with, not to mention Goldikova, and Frankel. Gio Ponti was recently taught a good lesson by Cape Blanco, and surely So You Think will run in the Breeders Cup Classic, and good luck to any one of your sorry 3 yr olds, and older horses who will not fare well against the best Horse in the world over 9 furlongs.....even on dirt.

  • @TicinoParadise - If you think that Big Red is better then Sea Bird II then well go hit that pipe again. Last time I checked Sea Bird II STILL holds the best Timeform rating of 145. You act like I am insulting him?, and you seem to have a problem with International horses being considered the Best of the best? There is more to racing then the Ol Us of A . Just like when I say Dance Smartly,Dahlia, Makybe Diva, and Zarkava would blow any American filly/Mare off the track.........

  • I am aware what the Bid accomplished. Oh and nobody gives a Sh1T what Andy Beyer has to say. We all know how well his SO CALLED beyer figures really matter. We can only go back to 2009 and Zenyatta's BC win when he said she would get buried with her latest Speed figures.....how did that work out for the GREAT BEYER?

  • @TicinoParadise Zapp would beat The Bid?! At 4 Bid was an absolute monster on the track, carrying all sorts of weights and still killing the field. His last race was a walkover because no owner wanted to put their horse against him. Bid's 1 1/4 still stands. Zapper was a phenomenon too, but he wouldn't beat Bid over 1 1/4 mile - at 6f it would be close. Btw, to show you what Beyer thought of Sec, he gave him a 139 speed figure. Zapp is at 128.

  • @TicinoParadise There's a shocker, you putting a bunch of European horses ahead of Secretariat - where did that come from?! Well, I not only rank Secretariat's Belmont ahead of STS's Arc, but also his MOW Stakes on turf and Marlboro Cup, when he galloped out to a 1 1/4 time of 1:57 4/5 PULLING UP (later equalled by Bid), after already setting the WR for 1 1/8. And I put him on top of that list of yours, with Nijinsky a close second. If YOU don't like it......tough shit!
