i even tried command

db_connect user:pass@192.168.0.2:1500/met­asploit3

to connect to database but it again gave me another error-

Error while running command db_connect: Failed to connect to the database: could not connect to server: Connection timed out (0x0000274C/10060)

Is the server running on host "192.168.0.2" and accepting

TCP/IP connections on port 7187?

Hey Do i need to install in (C:\framework) because for me the setup wants to do /program files (64), (im running vista 64bit) setting the permissions was taking a very long time so i canceled but i hear that that part of the installation always takes long on windows os, help me out, thanks!

@MaystorChris no you dont, you can choose to install the framework in any directory you wish to.

@PCCentral why when i want o install the latest metasploit framework (3.5.2)in process of installing appear an error where is said: error running C:\Program Files\Rapid7\framework/postgre­sql/bin/psql.exe-U postgres -p 7175 -h localhost -c "ALTER USER" postgres PASSWORD `4e313e60` " :psql: could not connect to server:Connection refused (0x0000274D/10061)

Is server running on host "localhost" and accepting TCP/IP connections on port 7175? could not connect to server ...... can explain me why?

@Rassengan9966 Yeah its an SQL server, but i dont understand why it wont let you install, do you have a previous version installed? (If you sign up to the website and post the problem you are more likely to get a faster reply and other peoples opinions on the problem)

If you already have it downloaded, just skip to 7:00. Most of the video just shows it installing.

i can't run metasploit on my windows xp sp3 machine. Nothing works (gui does not load exploits, console pops up and craches, web ui isn't working) How can i fix it?

whenever i try to update metasploit using msfupdate it gives me the can't update error

svn: OPTIONS of 'metasploit.c.0.m/svn/framewor­k3/trunk': could not connect to server (metasploit website)

I have some problems when i try to install the latest metasploit on my Windows XP SP3 machine. I keep getting post-install step errors, one when installing rubygems, and one when it says restarting Metasploit RPC Service. Nothing works after the install. What can i do?

You may think that but it is not true. If you do not install to C:\framework then you get the error that everyone is complaining about (the psql server not running). I've had this or similar problems with every version of this program I've tried to install. The Q/A on Metasploit is TERRIBLE. This is a simple problem to fix and they've blown it every time.

@selfReferencinDox try to install the new version of metasploit or use back|track 5 R1 the best choise ,because windows 7 its not for pentest

In regards to PCCentral's problem with the connection being refused:

If you try to do this yourself manually while the postgresql sever is off, then you'll get the same error ("psql: could not connect to server: Connection refused"). But, if you run the server first, then this won't happen.

BUT, Metasploit won't let you install if the server is up!!! So, this is a big problem then because you can't install if the server isn't up either.
