New Year Celebrations Begin in Goa, India

Locals and foreign tourists alike gather to welcome the new Year in the Indian state of Goa. The region's party culture and sea resorts are a major attraction and ideal place for some to celebrate the New Year.

Locals and foreign tourists gathered in large numbers in India's Goa state, all geared up to herald the New Year in festive spirits.

Tourists were seen dancing to the tunes of latest movie and music albums and dining at the restaurants.

"Goa rocks. Goa is the best place to be for 31st and New Year and we wish that every year we are here."

Foreigners seemed to like the ambience and enjoy their holidays.

"We like Goa. We like India and Indian culture. Good sea, warm sea, good pictures good views interesting and funny time we had. Good. Very good."

With its inherent party culture, Goa is regarded as an ideal venue for celebrating New Years.

Events such as live concerts and dances are a major attraction of the celebrations, particularly for the youngsters.

Almost all the hotels have been booked to full capacity.
