Cardinal Tetra spawning.
After a 20% water change, the unexpected happened. Started with these Cardinal Tetra suddenly became 10x more active and chase the female around. Then I realized somehow it triggered their spawning. Maybe the water change resembled a heavy rainfall in the wild?
In one of my other video "Cardinal Tetra spawning" you will see the eggs. It seems it's much easier to get Cardinal Tetra breeding in an aquarium environment than it is said in the book. As I did not really do anything to "condition" them for breeding. I've fed them nothing other than mostly New Life Spectrum pellets for the last two weeks. My tank water PH is around 7.8, and my T5HO light is on as you can see.
From many online sources, they claim that to breed Cardinal Tetra require specific "conditioning" with live food. They also claim that Cardinal Tetra breeding require soft acidic water, as well as in a dark environment.
Not in my case!
Although the eggs are said to be light sensitive and can't survive under strong light.
Tank - SeaClear acrylic 40 gallon
Filter - EHEIM Classic 2213 canister filter
Heater - Rena Smartheater 50W (replaced the big shining EHEIM Jager 100W)
Air pump - Rena 400 (Replaced Rena 300)
The fish tank and filter are from PetSmart.
Rest equipments were mostly from Petmountain.
Most fish were bought from liveaquaria.
With a few corydoras were from petsolutions
The Dwarf Gourami was home bred.

Hey, Have you seen my other video "cardinal Tetra spawning"? I finally caught them laying eggs lol. It was uploaded right after this one. Don't think I'll get any fry in that community tank lol. Next time I'll get them spawn in my 10 gallon.

Great to see isn't it! No fry survived in my tank unfortunately. Interesting about your water, I read somewhere the thoughts of ph effecting fish might be all wrong (although trace ammonia levels may play a more significant role to health here) and it is all about water hardness. Despite having a high ph you might have soft water which I know sounds contradictory but I have forgotten a lot of the theory behind this sorry.... sure someone will be along to explain more! I bet your ph is volatile!
