AD Chairperson Michael Briguglio on Xarabank with and Gavin Gulia and Prime Minister Gonzi.

In this clip, Michael makes his opening statements explaining why the Green Party did not attend the protest organised by the PL. Although many people are suffering the burden of the cost of living, the Labour party is irresponsible in denying the fact that the price of energy is increasing everywhere in the world. To make matters worse the Labour party is not proposing anything in their attempt to play catch-all politics.

Labour apart, the government's policies lack the element of social justice in that the minimum wage should be increased and the COLA calculation revised. The government is not putting forward real incentives for alternative energy so that families can acquire solar water heaters and photovoltaic panels. People who live in flats may not have access to a roof and cannot make use of said solar energy.

Gavin Gulia admits that he agrees with Michael on the long term measures. Instead he advocates an energy benefit which will prove to be ineffective because subsidising wasteful practices will not diminish consumption. Such a proposal shows that the Labour Party do not have concrete solutions for today's bread and butter problems. He mentions the living wage which is simply an abstract ideal, which Hon Gulia is not able to explain upon Michael's insistence. He finally loses his argument in a defiant sigh and states that he came on the programme to oppose the Prime Minister rather than being exposed for Labour's hollow politics.

Finally, keen to hit out at 'the other tribe', the Prime Minster's reply to Gavin Gulia is that Michael Briguglio is right in his criticism of the Labour Party. The second part of this clip can be found in Part 2 @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-A1mJZXFZiI

  • A minimum wage is something a student gets when he's 18 ans working at McDonald's!

  • Zewg partiti li jharsu biss lejn buthom u l-elezzjoni li jmiss. Tinduna mill-arroganza ta kliemhom apparti mill-mizuri li jiehdu. Id-differenza bejnithom hija minima.

Proset Mike u AD. Kieku mhux inthom qas biss nohrog nivvota.

  • X'arroganza ta' Gulia meta qal:

"Ha nghidlek naqra, jiena gejt hawnhekk mhux biex noqghod nikkuntrarja lilek imma lil dal persuna (Gonzi)..."

Are these people aspiring to be in government?
