Till this day I deeply regrate having sold mine! :-(
I once saw a website that red "This site is dedicated to the best car ever built". so True....
-
The Nissan sports cars had a similar system too, it is called
HICAS: High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering. Witch is almost the same thing as AHK.
-
Wow, talk about toe adjustment
-
How much was insurence for this?

+1 to what you said. Had two 3rd gens now, one 20 yrs old, and the second ws 18 yrs old....fully mechanical 4WS.....loved it, and never went rong. Unlike the computerised systems in 4th gens and 5th gens, and other cars.
Still not found another car that puts a smile on my face in the same way....n i got my last one for £450. LOL

That car has a very slow heart rate.

I like watching this. Wish I had it on mine, I`m sure it must make a huge difference when cornering.
Those wheels aren`t too bad either.

3rd Gen Prelude was the best.
It was bullet proof. So much so that it still works today (I have one). No error codes, sensor failures etc.
Honda discontinued due to costs and target market for Prelude was too cheap to justify continuing providing it.
Fact is it worked and still works. BMW providing it only for highest end vehicles justify it as a issue of cost rather than a gimmick (which the great unwashed thought it to be) when Honda first introduced it on the Prelude.

Thank you very much, will check this out!

the new 750 has 4 way steering
What did you use to control it when shooting this vid? I have not found any third-party software to control and test the AHK on my own CSi (the AHK is locked right now due to previous under voltage condition, which often has this effect). Suggestions, anyone?

The AHK system can be diagnosed and tested (as in the video) with the BMW Group Tester one (GT1). This is what BMW dealers use.
You can build such a system for yourself: You need a DK diagnostic head (yellow head - search eBay for "bmw gt1") and a computer running VMware with BMW DIS. The yellow head is rather expensive, though...

AHK was stock on the euro 850CSi (1285 cars made). The USA version (225 made) had to live without it. With the coming of the CSi, AHK became a (very expensive) option for the regular 8 series. Due to the high price a non-CSi 8 series with AHK is a very rare thing.
