An explorational piece
16mm, Kodak 250 Daylight & B&W Reversal in a Bolex H16 Reflex camera, transferred to DV.. Some of the multiple exposures were done in-camera (eg. multiple window-openings, , a few done on Final Cut (eg. b&w mixing with color footage, the drain hole),
Most of the sounds were done on the versatile and very analog Roland SH-101 (ie. air/wind, thunder, water drops, footsteps, xylophone, gong, & the "om").
Sampled sounds are: all the laughter, playground sounds, subway train, running water, birds, and car honk at the end. Some of the children and bird sounds were recorded by Scott Currie and me at the Lake Merritt Wildlife Sanctuary in Oakland, CA in May, 2004.
Thanks to Tim Johnson, Brendan and the Kelloggs, Elli Trier, Nathan Whipple, and all those neighborhood pigeons who were especially tolerant of my meddling, for your wonderful presence!
And thanks to Mel Friedling and the Spring 2009 16mm class at New School. It was a blast!
