Never before seen footage taken from my private super 8 camera in 1976, showing filming of Black Sunday at The Miami Orange Bowl. Note the official use of the NFL logos in the end zone. The NFL permitted actual logos and plays to appear in the film, which would never happen today. This footage has been in the can for 33 years, just now seeing the light of day. Notice Dolphin player Nat Moore too.

  • 240? :(

  • Behind the scenes of one of my favorite films, this video is nice indeed! I wish Dallas would've won this Super Bowl as well as SB 13, at least they won SB 30 against the Steelers

    !

  • @HailAnts haha thats Reunion singing "Life is a rock" I suppose he used it because it was a hit in 1976

  • So, what, no money shot of the blimp nose cresting the stadium edge? And what is that godawful pseudo-70s pop-rap-crap noise poising as 'music' playing? Who is it, the f*cking Brady Bunch singing?!

  • I wasn't there, but I was lucky enough to ride the Goodyear blimp soon after this time period. I was about 8 or 9 yrs old or so. What a great experience for a kid! Thanks for posting this great film!

  • @Elodea that's hilarious! great story!

  • I spent a lot of time talking to the second unit, photography crew, since they seemed to be loading and awful lot of magazines of film. One guy was saying the "shooting ratio" on this film was running about "80 to 1." I asked if that was abnormal and was told a nature documentary only ran about 60 to 1 and a regular, studio film less than 12 to 1. The editing must have been a nightmare.

  • When they were "flying" the fake gondola don the field on a crane, they "crashed" into extras hired to run and pretend they had been hit. When the director yelled "cut" there was one kid lying on the ground moaning, as if he was seriously injured. One of the AD's and medical staff guys ran over to him, asked him what was wrong, and the kid jumped up with an almost "Jon Lovitz" expression and proclaimed "ACTING!"

  • I was there with my buddy Rick. JF had us move around the stadium to leave the impression that it was full. The prop banners were one-sided, as shown. I can see myself and Rick at the 2:40 mark. Fun times. Thanks.

  • WOW! Just happened to end up here by accident. The footage is awesome!! I was 12 years old at the time and was there also. Not sure if it was the same day but I remember the director telling us to look up at the blimp (where it was supposed to be) and scream and then I remember everyone running onto the field and people were actually getting trampled. WOW this really takes me back. If you have any more footage of that day especially the stands, would love to see it. Thanks
