I am NOT one of those foreigners that wanted to buy the cheapest materials at the cheapest labor possible. I paid big bucks, close to $140,000.00 USD or 7 million pesos plus as they would say just to have a quality home in the Philippines that I could be proud of!

I expected "Quality Materials", "Quality Labor", "Quality Service" and the attorneys, contractors and architects that I encountered were some of the best on our Island. They expected "Top Dollar" and provided "Sub Standard Results!

Yes I'm a bit embarrassed. But guess what? I don't care any more! I'm spilling the beans and all it can do is help you. It'll help you protect yourself and your pocket book.

So why did we encounter these problems? I am a nice guy, I'm educated and don't have a super ego and don't think that I know it all. I consider myself fair and patient. I am not rich nor am a large pensioner. I am a permanent resident and paid my fees to the Philippine Government. I am retired and I do love the Philippines.

I will say that the problems I've had is not with the Government but with private businesses and their quest to get as much money out of me as they could.

I'll in detail explain the experiences I had in builiding my Philippine home and what was done to extract more and more money from me. I did not get everything that was agreed on. I did not get everything that was in my plans, I did not get the quality of materials I paid for and there were often hidden charges and fees that I had no clue about.

The excuses were abundant and often rediculous.
