Famous song, here in the form of a galliard (so faster than you may sing the song...) This one is in the Folger lute book.

  • Beautiful, any tips for some one planning on starting to learn the lute? I have played other instruments, mainly guitar, piano, and clarinet. In that order of most played to least

  • @kithatarimaru Hello,

Look for Lute Society on the net, for many infos, links, music, makers... Try also Wayne Cripps lute page. Avoid cheap lutes EMS and Taylor as they are not so good and need many settings to be playable. Better to start with a good instrument than to be bored on a bad one...Good luck !

    Val

  • A true master. I wish you were close enough by to be my teacher.

I see now who your luthier is. Nice sound. I am also a luthier. I'd like to know what my lutes would sound like with someone like you playing. I think I play too many instruments and have too many distractions to ever be as good as you.

  • @dantheartisan

Aren't there a good teacher close to your home ? I'm not teaching any more, and I also play many instruments, but all from the same family : guitars, lutes, theorbo, ukulele, and I also tried diatonic accordion but find it difficult ;-)))

  • WOW I Love your channel. Your music and your mastery of the lute are pure magic 5 stars and my immediate subscription.

    Kind Regards

  • Thank you very much Jim ;-)

    Best regards

As said in the title : John Dowland (1563 – 1626) Well known lute and songs composer of the Elizabethan England.

  • @Luthval I met a lutinist once, he lived some 400 miles from me. I play several culturally different instruments, (see my channel) and have 3 boys, 2 special needs, and make lutes. I play some lute and right now I'm working on the classic picking style. I'm getting close. I watch you pick, and I learn.

    Thanks! Dan
